Akadama is mined from volcanic soil in Japan, where it has long been a favorite of Japanese bonsai growersíëí_íë_íëí__íëí_íë__íëí_íë_íëí____íëí_íë__í_Œ‚íëí_íëí_íëí_íë_íëí__íëí_íë__íëí_íë_íëí__íëí_íë__íëí_íë_íëí__íëí_íë__íëí_íë_íëí___íëí_íë_íëí__íëí_íë___íëí_íë_íëí__íëí_íë__íëí_íë_íëí_____. It is commonly used for conifers (pines, junipers etc) but can be used for other type trees.

Some people use Akadama straight while others use it as part of their soil mix. One of our favorite mixes is Akadama, lava and pumice. We suggest hard fired Akadama for all but dessert climates

We call this smallest grain Shohin size. You can use it for small (shohin) trees, but something many people don't know is somegrowers also use it for larger old specimen bonsai
